The boy in the bus

I commend your courage

For your soul has chosen to wear its scars for everyone to see

So that you may remind us of the scars we all wear

The ones we try desperately to hide

Under false hierarchies of better than or worse

The ones we try to numb with sex, drugs, rock n roll

The ones we try to cut, carve or burn out of our skins

All desperate attempts to not feel the depth of truth and beauty that lies there

Waiting, hungering for love, for light

A starving child whose fate seems destined for a gaze turned away.

What if we chose again.

Turning back to meet the gaze.

What would fill us, what would die?

What if we chose to wear our scars for everyone to see!
